A Memorable Memorial Day!

Today we woke up and had a conversation that we have had on numerous occasions in this house. We asked Christian if he would like his hair cut, jokingly. I had no intentions of cutting it until after Uncle Brent's wedding, later this summer. I thought it would be so cute to see him as a ring bearer, or "reindeer," in Christian's words. But, lately he has been referred to as a "cute little girl"on more than enough occasions. Enough to make me feel mean keeping his hair as long as we had it. So, when he had three (very legitimate) reasons why he thought we should cut his hair I entertained the thought that today might just be the day. A sad day in my book, but a necessary day nonetheless. Christians reasons straight from his mouth were #1. "I won't be called a girl", #2 Dad can't pull my hair", and "Dad can't call me fluffy". With that we made our decision, it's getting cut. TODAY. So, at 11 this morning we all congregated on the back patio to what I felt like was welcoming a new child into our home, we get teary eyed and went for it. He sat there like a champ and let Eric buzz his head. This is the before and after.

The saddest part of the morning was when Eric got him out of the bath and stood in front of the mirror with him and asked who was in the mirror. Christian's response was that it was Ethan. So, Eric tried the question again, and Christian responded the same way. So he called me up there and Christian again responded that the boy in the mirror was Ethan. By that point everyone was up in the bathroom with us and we asked him to identify everyone else. He got everyone right except himself. We then explained to him that he was actually him??? Make sense? He was actually Christian. Same boy, different look. He is very proud of his haircut now. This will definitely be a memorable Memorial day!

  1. Did you donate his hair? It's so beautiful! He looks like Eric as a little boy!
