We sang lot's of the "Happy Birthday to you" song yesterday and gave lot's of smooches and all reminded him that we can't believe he is one. We really do love this little guy and he is so fun to watch toddle around and try and keep up with his big brothers. He loves it when Eric gets on the floor and wrestles with the big(ger) boys and he can try and jump in. He loves having big sisters and a mommy who succumb to his cute whines. Well it is cute for a very short amount of time. And he is so content to just be where everybody else is. He is not sleeping through the night yet, but he does take long afternoon naps. He loves to pull the dog's tail and grab the cat's hair. And he loves to smile and clap and perform for the ever willing audience in the Anderson household. Every "babble" that comes out of his mouth is celebrated as his "new word" which if my son actually said half of the things that his older siblings claims he does, he would be a genius baby! Ethan translates most of what Simeon says as some sort conversation piece worth having a party over!! He is a very loved little boy and we are thankful we have been entrusted with him. All that being said I hate to admit but we did not do a single present or have the ever famous chocolate cake with one candle or an ice cream covered little boy last night. We will celebrate today a little with Grandma coming for lunch as well as next week at the cabin. Hopefully we will get some fun pics of that to share with all of you.
As for our Lifespring, we now officially have membership. Last Wednesday we signed the official covanant membership and have around thirty or so charter covanant members. Eric is feeling a big weight lifted off with that. We had our first wedding at Lifespring Church last weekend and also hosted another church plant that was planted at the same time as us from our district. We (Lifespring) have been entrusted to different resources that other churches have not and we are thankful we can be used by the Lord to encourage those who need it in ways that further the Lord's kingdom. It reminds me of a game we like to play as a family, and now with some others in the church, Settlers of Catan. If you haven't played the game, it is a strategy game in which you all are given resources to start out depending on where you first build. As the game goes on you build roads, cities, and developments. All these will bring you to the point where when you reach a certain amount of points you win the game. In the process you trade in and out with other players to gain the resources necessary (sheep, coal, wood, brick, and stone) to accomplish your goal, to reach 10 points and win the game. There is also a robber who likes to steal resources, does that sound familiar? One who likes to steal, kill and destroy? We are not in this to compete against other church plants by any means, but the example of trading out resources accomplishes far more than if everyone kept what they had to themselves. Whenever you have a "hoader" playing the game it doesn't go very far, very fast!! We are looking forward to seeing what God will do in this partnership with this other church.
Some of you we have heard from have remined us of the fact that you have continued to pray for us. We can't express how appreciative we are for that and how encouraging that is for us to hear. Some of you have certain times of the day or week that you pray, some are praying specific promises for us, and we again want to thank you. Here are some specific requests that might help guide you in those prayers:
1)We have started a study for our Women called Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh Demoss. A friend and I went through it last winter and it was so transformative in our thinking and hopefully will be demonstrative in our living. We were shocked as we went through how many lies we have believed. It was so evident that we have been deceived and a statement like that means the war is on. Anytime we are uncovering Satan for what and who he is he will fight back. Monday mornings at 6 am we meet as a group of about 12 women to know the truth of God's word and to be set free. Pray for us, that we would fight and not grow weary.
2)Eric met with the Presbytery the other day since we have been in the building now for 6 months. They just wanted to go through a review of everone's expectations. When we started at the Presbyterian church they started putting part of our rent money towrds a rent to own type of situation in case one day we decided as a church to buy it. The meeting was with Eric and another man form our congregation and the Presbyterian board. They heard where we are as a church and what we were thinking as far as the future for us in this particular building. They will go back over all they heard from us as a church and review what the appraisal is on the buliding and come up with an asking price. Eric said they were very encouraging of us as a church and would really like to see us buy it. The bulding is beautiful and a huge asset in many ways. But, like anything there is wisdom that only comes form the Lord and unity that needs to happen when a decision like this needs to be made. Pray that we would abide with the Lord and His will be done.
3)This is a personel family one. As some of you know Taylor has had some health issues the last few years. She has a gluten allergy and has tested posotive for most of the tests on Celiacs disease, we have not gone and received a final diagnoses as it is a costly and time consuming adventure and we are just treating it as it is right now. Her Asthma and Allergies have gotten so bad these last few years and not a whole lot is working right now, and she is having a few other health issues as well. Please pray for healing and wisdom. As those of you who have faced any level of health issues you know how emotionally and physically draining it can be. So, we are just going to ask you all to pray along with us and see what God does.
We hope you all have a great weekend and I will post pics next week of the cabin and some of the church. Love, Miriam
