One goal I have is to get back in the swing of things in 2015, with this blog being one of them. We had an abrupt change of pace back in May that our family is still coming out of and this blog was one thing that got lost in the shuffle. So, I will do a very abbreviated edition of what's up with the Anderson's.
Since the last post we have celebrated Simeon's 2nd birthday, Ethans' 6th birthday, Jordan's sweet 16, Eric's 36th, Christians 5th, and Taylor is now 14! In that order too. I am thankful for each year we get to celebrate together and look forward to many more with each one of them.
We went to Wisconsin in June to celebrate with my brother Aaron when he married our sister in law/ aunt Anna. We stayed with my Uncle Bob and Aunt Claire and that was a sweet time to just get away. Everyone was having so much fun that we stayed an extra day.
We got to spend time down in Fairmont in July with our brother and sister-in-law Brent and Heather. We spent time with Eric's mom and dad (Mark and Sue) on the lake and hitting some great garage sales. I scored big time with one of my favorite finds all Summer. They were on my "to get" list and now I use them all the time. I got four cast iron antique pans, seasoned and all, for ...$1. Yay!
In August Eric went back to work at Lifespring church. At some point when it is appropriate to share more I will. But for now I am sure that updated pictures of how we are doing will suffice!
We started the school year off with 5 of the 7 kiddos in school. Jordan is a sophomore, Taylor 8th grade, Gracie second grader, and Ethan and Christian in kindergarten. So far....so good.
Our youngest Jubilee is 9 months old and is so cute. She is a sweet baby and everyone in the family adores her. She has her first teeth and is...not crawling yet..or sleeping through the night. Oh well, what can you do?
The kids and Eric have cleared out part of our pond in our back yard and have spent the last two days ice skating and brushing up on their broom ball skills...Yay for Winter in Minnesota. I personally will hang out by the fire with my coffee, but I am so excited that they have these opportunities to make fun memories.
Here it goes with some updated pictures of all the kids...
One of the funnest projects for Eric was a cabin built out of free craigslist wood. Knick Knacks from garage sales and free junk we find on the side of the road. Or in alley ways! This cabin is almost completely livable, almost. If you ask Eric he would say "why not?" If you ask me, no way. It is cute and was a fun distraction that allowed for some good father son time. The boy's, and in particular Ethan, has shown a great desire and ability to work with wood building different pieces of furniture, sailboats, and other miscellaneous items. Eric had a friend come over and help with the base of everything and the cabin went up from there. My brother Aaron came over and wired it for electricity so it does have lighting. It will sleep 4-6 as it has two lofts with railings so no one falls off. It has a table and chairs, dresser, old parlor chair and a wood stove. I look forward to painting the inside hopefully this spring and tidying it up a bit. I outfitted it with antiques (unbreakable of course) and a bunch of vintage blankets we found at a garage sales. The boy's slept out there one night so far, hopefully they will have many more to come. Here is our pretty little cabin...feel free to come and stay if you like!
There is something about this time of year that I love, particularly the decor. So, in honor of that...I decorated two weeks ago so we could enjoy it longer. Welcome to our home at Christmas time!
Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
Love,
The Anderson's
