Hi Everyone,

Thank you for those of you who have been praying for Jordan. We went in for her 2nd doctors appointment on Tuesday and they sent us right back down to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The second time in a week she ended up in the emergency room and then admitted. She had basically lost function in her foot and the doctor we saw on Tuesday could not find a pulse. That is why they had us go down the week before also. Her other symptoms were terrible pain that went form burning in the bone of her leg, ankle, and foot to what felt like drums being played on her from the inside as well as swelling and a purple foot.

They did MRI'S, MRA'S, x-rays, blood tests, and a needle going into her leg to check for a condition that would have required immediate surgery. They checked for any blockages in her arteries and veins as well as tumors in the muscles and in the bones. All of the above was ruled out, thank goodness. Then they were left with figuring out why her foot was not working, clammy, cold, and went from having a pulse to not having one as well as intense pain and not being able to move it. We met with a lot of Doctor's trying to figure out what was going on and they finally landed on the discharge diagnosis of CRPS (she was in for two days), formerly known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Not a lot is known about this, but the Doctor's from Gillette's Children's Hospital have had some experience with it which was helpful. If you are interested in this the Mayo Clinic website has some helpful information. The recommendations were to do an inpatient therapy for two weeks, but we opted to try outpatient for the week and see them again next week so they could determine if progress is being made. If there is not sufficient progress they would like to treat her in Gillette's for a couple  weeks. We are hoping that is not the case so we have been trying real hard to get the foot to move and be weight bearing. Right now she has no use of her right foot, it just hangs out! Or hangs there. So, the therapy requires someone other than Jordan to be bringing movement to her foot and push through the intense pain that this brings. Part of the problem is that the medication she is on (Gabapentin and the narcotics) makes her so tired we have not seen much of her to be doing the exercises. If you would continue to pray for her recovery we would so appreciate this.

On a happier note here are some picture's of one of Eric's hobby's  as well as how he is providing for our family.

He loves his wood burning stove and chopping wood! The picture with all the black tarps is the firewood that will keep us warm and cozy this winter and the bottom pictures are to show you what Fall looks like at our house. We have a ton of leaves. I don't think that is an exaggeration either, these are what was accumulated in one day. The day before Taylor had taken the lawn mower over all the other ones. It is pretty though!

I hope you are enjoying Fall in all your respective places!

Love,
Miriam
