The Last Month (And then some...)

Hi Everyone,

I thought this was going to be an easy way to keep everyone updated on how and what our family is up to, but I am finding it is not as easy. In the midst of 6 kids and ministry, life happens. And it. Is. Busy! With a capitol B.

Both Jordan and Taylor were involved with a local traveling theatre and guess who landed the role of Becky Thatcher in the Tom Sawyer story? Taylor! Jordan was a Towny and despite a little bit of stage freight they both did a great job.

This is a not so great picture, but it shows the cast of Tom Sawyer including Jordan behind one of the skeletons and Taylor turning to the side.

Then in the first week of July we went back up to the cabin and were up there over the fourth. Eric was able to come back and forth to work since we live just under an hour away. The kids caught fish and lived like fish that whole week. It was perfect weather for being up there and it  was a nice get away.

The following Tuesday Eric came home from work and that evening developed a fever that would not go away. He went to work on Wednesday and Thursday but came home sick both days. Friday he could not get out of bed and Saturday was the same. We called his Doctor who said that if he was not better the next day we should go in. So Saturday evening we ended up in the ER and Eric was admitted to the hospital for the next two days. He said he has never been so sick in his life, and he looked it! It ended up being a tick related illness and he is on antibiotics for 3 weeks. It took a lot out of him and we are all  thankful he is feeling better.

He got out of the hospital Monday and we had plans to drive to Cincinnati on  Wednesday morning for Erics' brothers wedding. We turned a 14 hour trip in to a two day trip by stopping in Madison over night to get rest. That was helpful since Eric is the primary driver and he still wasn't up to par with how he was feeling. Then we started out again early Thursday morning with a stop at the Albanese Candy Factory in Merillville, Indiana. It was perfect timing since we had been in the car for a few hours at that point and everyone was ready for bathroom breaks and of course, candy! They allowed you to sample as many pieces of candy as you wanted so everyone of course took them up on that offer and had full belly's by the time we were done!

Here are the kiddos out in front of the factory!

That evening we made it to the hotel where we would be staying during all the wedding festivities and got settled in. Eric's family had arrived the day earlier and we all went out to dinner together that night and came back so  the kids could swim. (I think they thought the whole purpose of our going there was for them to swim!) The next day (Friday) was the groom's dinner and Saturday was the wedding. Eric officiated the wedding while Ethan and Christian were ring bearer's (or reindeer is what Christian thought they had to get in their costumes, tuxes, for) and Gracie was a flower girl. Jordan and Taylor were hostesses at the reception and everyone played their part well. I will post more pics and info later when we have them I just wanted to do a quick fill in since it had been so long since I posted. Brent and his new wife Heather were a very fun couple and the wedding was very nice. I am excited to have her join the family!
Here is a picture of Jordan, Taylor and cousin Melissa at the reception.

I will post more pictures of our cute little reindeer, flower girl, pastor and of course the bride and groom themselves! I did not take many picture with our own camera so hopefully soon I will have some back from others who got some. The boy's looked so darn cute in their little tuxes with suspenders and Gracie's dress was beautiful. So was she of course! My Dad's wife, Jean, made Jordan and Taylor's dresses and did and amazing job as well as a friend from church made their jewelry. They were beautiful as well.

Hopefully this quick update is helpful and I will hopefully be able to sit down and write a little more personal about ministry and life here once we get back in to the swing of things.

Love,
Miriam
