Taylor is now a teen! We have now graduated from the tween to the teen, and I have no complaints. I have heard as a mom that I should dread the teenage years, and some of it was probably my own fear. I am sure that some of what I feared would come true was because of what I knew might due to my own experiences , however I am excited to say that so far I have really enjoyed watching the girls grow and mature into little women.
Taylor has been a bubbly, talkative child from when she was born. She has had an infectious giggle that is undoubtedly Taylor when you hear it, and she loves to have fun. One of the things we have continuously laughed at her about is that she can either rise to the occasion or enter into whatever age level she is with. In recent months I have grown to appreciate this so much about her. She will serve in ways that are almost impossible for me to accomplish like doing the airplane with all the little ones when I am trying to get whatever done around the house. She is ever willing to grab a little one and help us out by taking them on whatever adventure she is going on. She has been known to get all the little ones bundled up and head out into the swamp in our backyard, she had the baby carrier around her the other day with Simeon in it while she was doing her chores and today she was playing down in the forts with the younger ones. I so appreciate the relationships that she is building with her siblings and look forward to watching those grow in the future.
On the other hand I love how she can have a conversations with adults. She will remember details about people and has an ability to show empathy and concern for someone who is in pain. We have had many people in the community who have shared how much it means to them when Taylor comes and asks them how they are doing with whatever issue she was let in on. I am challenged by her desire for life and people around her to experience joy. Most importantly this year she, along with Jordan (not at the same time), asked to be baptised. She had expressed a desire the year before to take communion and then this year when she heard that Lifespring was going to have a baptismal service she asked for prayer to overcome her fear of talking in front of people, take this step of faith, and publicly profess her faith in Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. It is a privilege as her mom to be able to disciple her on a consistent basis and to watch her grow and respond to the Lord and me as well as she has. I look forward to watching her future unfold as she grows in relationship with the Lord. Happy 13th birthday Taylor!
