We have had a very cooold winter so far, which makes for a very looong winter so far. Add on top of that a
pregnant mommy with very little energy. What little energy I do have ends up going to the basics of everyday tasks, if I even get those accomplished! So, we have tried to be creative with getting the kids outside with different activities. The problem is when you have these little guys it requires a lot of prep work, clean up work, and crying over cold fingers. Oh well, it is all worth it in the end because we have been able to create some great memories and the kids have been raving about the fun they have been having.

Last Sunday we were able to go to a huge sledding hill that has a toll rope and long slopes as well as a chalet for those that either did not want to go, or couldn't. That would be me, Simeon and Jordan. Everyone else went and tried to make the 55 mph speed they say you can get up to on those hills. Even Christian went down by himself and he tends to be pretty timid in situations like that. Then we went out for pizza afterwards, thanks to some of the Christmas presents we received. Here are some of the pictures from that night.
Last night Eric took The big girls and the two of the boys to a game of broom ball that Eric and some friends organized. Those of you who know Eric know that he loves broom ball. Although, he did say that now he is playing hockey two mornings a week it satisfies his ice time. When I first met Eric he played broom ball several times a week, but due to schedule changes with work and adding more kids to the bunch he has not had the chance to play much in recent years.
I personally find broom ball one of the oddest sports and am too afraid to play. I don't like balls being whipped at my face or brooms being shoved at me in any way shape or form. Plus, I see my broom often enough during the day why I would want to make a sport out of it is beyond me. It was really fun though, watching Eric and the kids get all decked out in their broom ball gear and then hear about it all when they got back home. They had a great time and had several friends from church and the community show up. Hot chocolate and cookies were Christian and Ethan's highlight, but Eric said they played very well and stayed on the ice almost the whole time. Jordan and Taylor also played good as well and enjoyed being with friends.
We have a slower week coming up and I am so thankful for that. Hopefully it will help me refresh before heading into the next and final month of being pregnant. It is the last week we have that the schedule is not jam packed full of doctor's appointments, activities and church functions. February is going to be a full month for us. Here are some of what we anticipate for the next while. We will hear if we can move forward on the final vote to buy the church. Eric has two conferences, 1 for pastor's, and the second one is our annual, mandatory church planter's retreat for husbands and wives. I will go to the second one which is less than 2 weeks away form my due date. I hope baby stays in for all that. Then,we have scheduled the c-section for the 25th of February and I am so excited to meet this little one. That date is well into my 39th week and I have never gone that long in any of my pregnancy's so we will see what happens. I have all the baby clothes washed and ready to pull out, either blue or the pink, as well as the swing, car seat and all the other gear that needed washing. The bags are almost packed and now we are just waiting! I have crossed off a bunch of house cleaning projects I wanted to get done, but still have a bunch more. In fact, I keep on adding to the list which I know is probably unnecessary. The projects will all be here when we bring baby home, right? There is just some weird satisfaction to get it all accomplished before. Speaking of weird things, I have never really dealt with cravings in my pregnancy's, except for two things. I have this insatiable desire for permanent markers and ice. It always hits in the last two months of pregnancy and it has struck again. It is not any permanent marker either, it is a certain kind. The big strong black ones, no other colors. Even writing about it makes me want to go smell it, not eat it, just smell it. The ice I love to eat and Eric has very kindly told me that I make ice sound really tasty. Has anyone else ever had that with markers? Anyways, we can't wait to meet him or her, now we just need to agree on a name! The kids all have the ones they would like us to pick and whenever I bring it up to Eric he says "Larry" and then proceeds to tell me we still have "X' amount of weeks left, why pick it out so soon. Hmmmmmm.
We hope you are all staying warm and that you are able to see how the Lord is working in your lives! Here are a few extra pictures from the last few weeks.
Love,Miriam
